Need an Advocate?

An advocate is a person who has the authority of the consumer and who represents their interests. An advocate can be a family member, a friend or an agency appointed by of for the consumer.

The National Aged Care Advocacy Program (NACAP) provides free and confidential advocacy support for older people and their carers. Call 02 6289 1555 or Free call 1800 020 103 between 8.30am and 5.30pm, Monday to Friday, except on public holidays.

Interpreting Services

St George Community Transport employ staff and recruit volunteers who can speak different languages including:

  • Cantonese
  • Mandarin
  • Macedonian
  • Hindi
  • Indonesian
  • Swedish
  • Arabic
  • some South African Dialects

If you required a language translator, call the Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS) on 131 450. They cover over 100 languages and provide this service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for a cost of a local call. Some services in the area are funded to provide services to specific cultural, religious, language groups.
